Pulse™ energy management software
Pulse Energy’s software collects, analyzes, and communicates real-time energy intelligence for building operators and management, enabling savings of 5-25% with improved operating efficiency.

Pulse™ Connector
The Pulse™ Connector is a simple combination of hardware and software that is used to collect energy information. The Connector communicates with almost any type of energy metering hardware or building automation system in your building and then sends the data to the Pulse™ Engine.
Pulse™ Engine
Benchmarking
Pulse™ is running in a large and growing number of buildings around North America, and it is able to benchmark any building in a number of ways. A building’s overall energy consumption per square foot or per square metre over a set period of time (day/week/month/year) can be compared to similar buildings. It can also be compared to other buildings in a specific portfolio (such as all the buildings on a university campus), or to itself in the past.
With every new building that’s added to the system, the benchmarking gets more powerful. Pulse™ is able to benchmark both total consumption and specific energy curves over the course of the day, so you can see how much your building can reduce its energy load outside of business hours, or even how its performance changes relative to normal in different seasons.
Analytics
The Pulse™ Analytics Engine constantly performs advanced calculations to provide you with feedback on how your building is operating. Pulse Energy teamed up with leading researchers to create an algorithm that provides building operators with the most accurate information possible about how their building is performing.
The Pulse™ Typical Curve will analyze all variables that have an impact on energy consumption in your building and will then show you how much your building would typically be using on a similar day. The software will alert you immediately when there is a deviation so that you can find and fix problems within minutes.
The Pulse™ Business As Usual Curve will calculate how much energy you would be using on a similar day if you hadn’t made improvements to your facility and the operation of your facility. This allows you to perform accurate Measurement and Verification on initiatives and projects designed to reduce energy consumption.
Meter Data Archive
Pulse™ ensures that all your energy information is stored in full resolution – up to once/minute for some devices – for as long as you subscribe to the service (it is often not stored by other systems such as your energy meters). The information is used by the Pulse™ Typical Curve and is also very useful for measurement and verification and for investigating the impact of changes to your building and the way it is operated.
Pulse™ Web Application
Pulse™ is web-based software you access through a website on any computer that has an internet browser and an internet connection. This is commonly called Software as a Service (SaaS).
There are a number of advantages to using web-based software:
- Pulse™ works on all internet browsers and operating systems and can be accessed from anywhere you get the internet.
- Our powerful servers are capable of performing calculations that would not be feasible on a desktop computer.
- You do not need to install any additional software to begin using Pulse™. You just need to log in at http://my.pulseenergy.com
- No software maintenance or updates required. Pulse Energy seamlessly adds new improvements to the software; all you have to do is log in to access these new features.
- Economies of scale allow us to provide higher levels of reliability, redundancy and security than would be possible with traditional boxed software.
